In Shakespeare's Othello, a Moorish general, Othello, is manipulated by his ensign, Iago, into believing his wife, Desdemona, is having an affair with his lieutenant, Cassio. Driven by jealousy, Othello murders Desdemona and then, upon realizing his mistake, kills himself. The play explores the destructive power of jealousy and manipulation, highlighting the tragic consequences of unchecked suspicion.
