Dedicated to her older brother, their upbringing was filled with Chinese stir-fry, Andean nursery songs and frequent visits from their Jewish cousins from New York. Pastorale d'éte by the French composer Alfred Honegger is a short symphonic poem inspired by his vacation to the Swiss Alps in 1920. Béla Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances is based on seven Romanian tunes from Transylvania. Closing out the program is a 1992 SPCO commission -- Eric Stokes' Prophet Bird contains chamber music arrangements of selected piano miniatures by Robert Schumann.
