Babies at the Castle: Tomte

Leave your strollers at the door and carry your baby through a tour of the Tomte: the Gnome, the Myth, the Legend exhibit before ASI opens to the public. This unique tour is designed for babies up to 18 months and their caregivers. During the tour experience, ASI educators will create opportunities for caregivers to connect with their babies and moments for the babies to engage with the exhibition pieces. Tours are approximately 30 minutes, followed by an additional 15 minutes of sensory play in the Castle. All infants will receive a baby teether connected to the exhibition's theme.

ASI requires caregivers to use carriers so babies up to 18 months can view the artwork. Strollers are not permitted. ASI staff will unlock the front doors by 9 am. If you arrive outside public hours and the doors are locked, use the buzzer by the blue wall. Food, beverages, and chewing gum are not allowed in exhibition spaces.

Organization Details:

Nearly 90 years ago, a new immigrant to Minnesota had a vision to create a vibrant cultural gathering place. Established in 1929, ASI has evolved into a dynamic arts and cultural center that welcomes all people to gather and share experiences around themes of culture, migration, the environment, and the arts; informed by enduring links to Sweden. From the gallery spaces, featuring local and international exhibitions, to the lively programming set in the historic Turnblad Mansion, to the shop, and award winning restaurant and café – there are many ways to see yourself at ASI and be part of this story.
