Amanda Montell is a writer and linguist from Baltimore. She is the author of the acclaimed books Cultish, Wordslut, and The Age of Magical Overthinking. Along with hosting the podcast Sounds Like A Cult, her writing has also appeared in The New York Times, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and more. Speaking about her work, Amanda has appeared in documentary series including Netflix's How to Become A Cult Leader and Vice TV's True Believers. Her newest podcast, Magical Overthinkers, premiered in May 2024. She holds a degree in linguistics from NYU and lives in Los Angeles with her partner, plants, and pets.

The Cedar Cultural Center (also known as The Cedar) is a highly eclectic music venue located in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, MN. The venue is known for hosting a variety of folk, blues, jazz, indie rock, and world artists. The Cedar is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, largely volunteer-driven organization. Located in the historic Cedar Theater building, which opened in 1948 and operated as a movie theater until the 1970s before falling into disuse, The Cedar Cultural Center was established in 1989 when local real estate magnate Keith Heller donated the theater to a non-profit started by Deb Martin and Mary Ann Dotson, Minnesota STAR (Society for Traditional Arts and Resources).
