Event Details:
As May 25th marks the one-year anniversary of George Floyd's murder, we dedicate this program in honor of his life. We continue to grieve for him, for his family and with the Black community. After a year filled with uncertainty, this program offers music of mourning and healing. We begin with the slow movement of George Walker's First String Quartet, titled Lyric -- an elegy he wrote in honor of his grandmother who escaped slavery. The world premiere performance of American Indian composer Brent Michael Davids' new work for solo flute follows. We will conclude with Franz Joseph Haydn's series of seven musical meditations on Christ's final words.
